Improvements from Taekwondo and restructuring of the blog

In case you have not noticed I am trying to streamline the blog posts a bit. I want to continue to provide ongoing useful information that is important to the mental health community.

Yesterday I posted links to current topics in the news related to mental health. I think it is important to be aware of how mental health issues are being portrayed in the media. I provided several links on various topics. Each link has a summary so you can quickly gage interest before following it onto the article.

Tuesdays I want to devote to updates on my family. I mean what is more relevant to mental health then the story of a family who lives and breaths it?

Wednesday will continue to be menu updates. If you are following paleo then it will help give you quick ideas. I am constantly finding ways to streamline the whole dinner process. If you are not eating paleo - well I would highly suggest you look into using diet to help with behavior. It is not an easy answer for every child. However, with my youngest the combination of medication and diet modifications has been life changing.

Thursdays are a day I want to lighten things up a bit. Caregivers of mental health children need to relax, but even our relaxation seems to revolve around the mental health community. So I may post some funny sayings and/or pictures. Maybe link to something related to mental health, but it funny. That is my goal at least. I may also switch up Thursdays and finally finish my posts on 72 hour kits or other topics.

Fridays are science days. I really wish I had more then one day to write on the science of mental health. There is so much information out there, and I love reading it and summarizing it. However, more then once a week would be too much at the moment. If you have a topic you would like to see send it my way.

In our family we call our lifestyle flexible scheduling. Everything is scheduled but there is still enough flexibility to live and enjoy life, but not too much to throw everyone off the deep end. By implementing this technique to the blog I hope to be able to keep with the level of updates that I have. My ultimate hope is that this blog helps someone.

So on to our update. We have been doing Taekwondo officially for a week now. This is not a lot of time to make long term projections. I can say that the hitting at my house has stopped completely - and that is amazing! When J has been having difficulty he has been mostly redirected to move aside and clam down. S is loving class and has not had a problem staying awake during it or physically keeping up in class. Afterwards is a different story. L loves Takewondo and asks to go every single day - we do practice as a family every day. It takes a lot for her to stay up with the class that late at night, but she is doing it, and I think it will be easier as it becomes more routine.

On a different note it has helped me to start loosing weight again. I have hopes of hitting my goal at the end of the year. Maybe even a bit more - but I do not want to jinx it.
