Bucket List 2014 - Junk Food Day
This last weekend I let J go camping with his church group. Last time it was a disaster - he did not take his medication, and no one thought to make J go to sleep. He stayed up all night long by himself.
I was not going to let him go this time. His behaviors were out of control lately, and nothing seemed to help reign them in. That is until we went to see his psychologist and someone made him listen to my interpretation of what was going on with his behavior. He began to show enough control that I sent him away for a while 24 hour period.
In truth, he did not go for himself. He went because S and L needed a break from him. To make the event even more special we checked another item off our bucket list and had a junk food day. J says camping was worth missing out on the junk food.
Junk food day started for dinner on Friday night. We went to Fresh and Easy and loaded up on organic bananas, organic strawberries, gluten free chocolate cereal, gluten free bars, gluten free cookies, chocolate chips, Lay's, and Frito's. We did not buy a single thing even resembling a vegetable. I even let the girls get sweetened chocolate almond milk. It's sugary goodness is way to addicting.
We ate dinner in front of the TV (gasp horrible right) and watched a movie called Standing Up. The girls picked it, and I have a bit of a red flag when they both picked the movie because it dealt with being bullied. The shower scene's with 12 year old children was a bit much (thankfully they did not show anything, but still).
I came to the conclusion that I do not like rice flour. The cookies were gross. Also, nothing is made with good sugar. Organic cane sugar is still sugar - and I had to watch S's intake of it.
The important part is it let off some of the stress of the last two weeks. It was a much needed mini break. When the girls told all about junk food day then even mentioned that it was only once a year. They then added that they think it should be twice a year.
Here is what was on our menu this weekend.
