How to Request Your Book to be Reviewed

- Do you accept requests to review books?

Yes! I would love to review your book. Make sure to keep reading to see if your book will be a good fit for this blog. If your book does not meet these qualifications then I will try and let you know that I will not be reviewing it.

I try and post book reviews between 2-4 weeks after a book is submitted for review. This has some variability. I am a single mom to special needs kids. Sometimes, to my extreme disappointment and increase stress level, I do not get to read for a few days. If there is a delay I will attempt to let you know. If you are concerned about the time line please contact me BEFORE submitting your book to be reviewed.

- What format do you prefer?

I read on my Kindle or Kindle app, so I prefer Mobi. I will accept pdf files as well. If you send a file in ePub it will take me longer to get to. I actually will have to pull out my computer and convert it - so beware.

- What do you not accept?

This is important. I WILL NOT read horror books. I still have nightmares over Stephen King's Pet Cemetery and I read that over twenty years ago. I am a wuss and not afraid to admit it. If the cover looks like horror, but the contents are not, send a disclaimer so I know please. This applies to darker science fiction, some psychological thrillers, or any other darker work.

I will also not review erotica. If there is more sex in your book then plot then I will also not review it. I read paranormal romance, so obviously some sex scenes are fine. There is a difference between a novel and porn.

If your book has not been formatted or edited then do not bother submitting it please. If there are more typos in your book then my blog then there is a problem.

 

-What will you review?

If I did not exclude it above, I will review it. That being said I do have some particular interests.

Books about Autism, ADHD, Anxiety, Bipolar, or other mental health concerns (specifically, but not exclusively, with children) are of interest. I also am interested in gluten free or paleo books or cookbooks. I love reviewing urban fantasy and paranormal romance, however take care that your book is edited and at least somewhat original. I love reading memoirs - no matter what the subject.

- What else should I know?

I can be an anal Aspie (person with Asperger's) if you submit something that the book does not match the title of the work I will reduce the amount of stars. This drives me crazy. If your book is suppose to be about autism and you write about sensory issues, or if the title claims paranormal romance and your novel is really science fiction I will dock points. Titles are suppose to represent the book. They are important. For an example of this you can read the following review. The book was advertised as being from the daughter's perspective. In truth it was a mother's ranting. I would have read it regardless - but the misrepresentation looses credibility.
