What's in the News: CDC Covered up Connection between MMR Vacination and Autism!!!

Full statement by MMR scare doctor Andrew Wakefield: 'The Government has tried to cover up putting price before children’s health'

WOW! I had not read this until now - the CDC covered up the connection between the MMR vaccination and autism. This is why I take a middle of the line road on issues. I am both a parent and a scientist. I trust the research, but I also trust my experience with my children. My experience tells me there is a link between nutrition and autism, now the research is starting to show the same thing. Logically I could see why there would be a connection between vaccinations and autism. When I first started college (I was 15/16 at the time) I had to get an MMR booster shot. I was in bed for a week and could not move my arm for two weeks - so I have always been a bit skeptical about vaccinations. Which is why we have done delayed vaccinations - one vaccination at a time.

Family calls mental health care “cracked,” daughter’s cries for help unanswered

I admit that I am a sucker for stories about how families interact with the mental health system. Mostly because I agree - it is a broken system. My teachers in grad school too offence when I said this, but they have never struggled to get help for a child who needs it. There is one weird typo in this story, they will hopefully update it soon.

Man killed by Woodland police fatally shot mom 24 years ago

Do police have a tough job? Absolutely. There are so many other options besides shooting to kill. Wouldn't a bullet to the leg work just as well to stop an attack, and then no one has to die. What about the use of non lethal weapons? Specifically when a person is identified has having a mental illness police should come to the scene expecting the worse, and know what options to employ that do not leave people dead. As an ABA therapist I had a knife pulled on me. I did not shoot the kid, I talked him down. Then we went and did homework and watched YouTube videos. This is why I am scared to call the cops if my kids escalate. They should not be the first line of defense, they are not properly trained for it. Why not have a response team just for mental illness?

L.A. accuses Glendale Adventist of patient dumping on skid row

If you are not already appalled by what is happening in the mental health community, take a look at this. This is the state of mental health in my community. Let's just drop off people on the side of the road and wash our hands of them - this is what is wrong with our society. This is what needs to be fixed. What is so horrible about helping people? Even from a financial stand point it makes sense. Over the long road it will save money.
