We had quite an eventful weekend. On Friday our fuse blew, and the pipes to our kitchen erupted. We were up working most of the night getting everything cleaned up.
Saturday we had plans to go to Soak City - the water park attached to Knotts Berry Farm. Knowing things will be very tight with an increased summer camp bill I decided we would splurge and go to TGI Fridays. The older kids love the ribs.
When I received my burger it had cheese on it, despite asking for it not to. I decided to not make a big deal out of it and ate the cheese, knowing it would give me a slight stomach ache. I am thinking their was also gluten on the burger. Instead of a stomach ache, I got a fever, body chills, and a headache.
Despite trying to manage my household from my bed yesterday, it seems that the infection has turned into strep throat.
I have gotten strep throat at least once a year since as long as I can remember. It makes me wonder if it is related to my gluten intolerance. The timing does seem suspect to me, however I cannot find any research connecting the two. Yet, that could just mean that it has not been studied yet.
The good news is that there is zero money in our budget next month for eating out, so I do not have to worry about being exposed to gluten again.
