Before I continue let me say that I realize that I am destroying the environment. Paper plates are not the way to go - I am the person who will only use the air dryer in bathrooms and limit my children to just one paper towel. The reality is that a person can only do so much, and this is where I drew the line. One day it will change - but not today.
I needed a lunchbox. I needed something that would take real food to work. I also wanted it to be microwavable. It needed to be easily washable - every night so I would repack it again the next day.
I finally settled on a Laptop Lunchbox. It has individual plastic containers which are neatly labeled so you remember to take enough protein and vegetables - something I had a problem with previously.
The containers (but not the lids) are all microwavable. The sauce container fits nicely inside the snack container - or any container, but who needs that many nuts?
The entire lunchbox is extremely easy to clean. The only difficulty may be getting food out of the corners. However, mostly it will just wash off. I do not have a dishwasher - so I do not know how it would hold up, but my guess is top shelf only.
All my children responded well to the lunchbox. S wants one in pink, and when we are done with our freeze on buying stuff (when the house is completely clean) I am going to use her as the sample for how it does in school. She is the one most likely to not loose it. J has not had a lunch box/bag last more then two weeks and is currently taking plastic bags. L still takes gluten free peanut butter sandwiches for lunch everyday. This box would not be very helpful for that.
Overall I love my laptop lunchbox - except I need to find a container for it to go in so it is easily carried (that will also have to wait until after the buying freeze).
FYI - the green stuff was suppose to be zucchini pancakes - EPIC FAIL!
