Dehydrated Orange Peel

When I bought a ten pound bag of organic oranges one of my thoughts was that I could use the peel to make orange peel. Why spend five dollars on the stuff when I own a dehydrator. The stuff in the store is not even organic. How hard could it be, eat the oranges and throw the peel on the dehydrator.

Not quite.

Apparently, you are only suppose to dehydrate the very outside of the peel. While I discovered there was special tools for getting the orange peel off, I opted to stay with my peeler. After all I am trying to save money, and I have to save room in my kitchen for the really cool gadgets.

Using the peeler was not too bad.

I am not sure if any of the light orange stuff is suppose to come off. However, I threw it on a dehydrator sheet and it was completely dehydrated in about four hours. Then I just sealed it in a jar until it was time to use it. It tasted great and dehydrated completely.
