Yesterday was pretty crazy. I took L to school to make sure she could go back. They could not find anything alive in her hair (I give myself the creeps just having to think that), but they would not let her go back to school. Why? L slept on a stuffed animal (which I had cleaned) and all the chemical grossness (according to the CDC you should not wash it out for one to two days) picked up fuzz from her stuffed animal. Yes, they did not want her to go back to school because she had fuzz in her hair.
Since my awesome boss let me work from home I did not fight it. Today I will, there is too much to get done. Working from home is hard. I have to entertain a child, do some actual work, and ignore the craziness of my house. I ended up multitasking.
After school hours we packed up the car full of massive amounts of laundry and headed over to a laundry mat. While it was expensive, kind of dirty, and full of people without social boundaries, we at least managed to get everything clean in a reasonable amount of time. Reasonable being slightly before bedtime.
Instead of cooking we went out to eat. I will confess this is our third time this month. I do not feel guilty in the slightest - some jobs of motherhood earn you an extra night to eat out.
My mom, who helped us with the massive amounts of laundry, is about done with out normal fair of In and Out. A quick Google search had me discover that Red Robin, which was right next to us, at least had a published gluten free menu. It is a limited burger and salad menu - but better then some places. We all had burgers with a lettuce wrap and sweet potato fries. It was delicious. They were even good about taking back J's burger which had cheese on it, and so far no morning stomach aches.
So bottom line they have a published gluten free menu online - still check to see if it is Paleo(ish) - and they substitute sweet potato fries without a problem. They also give lots of lettuce to replace the bun. To go was a rash decision, so I do not thing the restaurant is the optimum of health. In a pinch it worked great. I am even learning how to order without confusing the wait staff.
By the time we arrived home we were exhausted (we slept the night before without blankets). The kids were great, L headed off to bed, but both S and J helped me pack up lunches. They were off to bed within ten minutes. As I pointed out to my mom this kind of behavior would not have been possible a few months ago. Not that we are at perfection. L and S both freaked out at each other this morning, considering the drama even the freak out was low key.
