My Weigh In December 2013

Last year was a crazy year all around. My weight and our health was no exception. When I started the year out I weighed between 201 to 205 pounds. I was wearing a size 12. I tend to look slimmer then the numbers on the scale. My eventual goal for 2013 was to finally get under 180 lbs. Then life happened.

The first problem was my job. I was working as an ABA therapist. Beyond the horrible logistics of having to leave your lunch in the car and eat it in between clients there were other factors to my weight gain. Stress. I was working with special needs children and then coming home to my own special needs children. Except that my children were being raised by a baby sitter because the hours that an ABA therapist works was not very conducive to single parenthood.

I am sure all of this helped contribute to the weight gain. However, the start of my downhill spiral was getting smashed in the face by a complete set of metal measuring spoons that were wound up like a softball pitch and crashed into my skull. Beyond the swollen face, black eye, and blood I gained over 20 lbs in a week. By the end of the month I had gained 40 lbs and none of my clothes came anywhere close to fitting. In a month I had gone up 6 sizes. At that point I succumbed to the stress and horrible eating habits.

While I understand that tracking weight loss is not necessarily the best indicator, it is one indicator that I have chosen to use. My starting point before going Paleo was 148.8 lbs and a size 18. At today's weigh in I am 238.8 and all my size 18s are falling off me and my size 16s either fit well or are only slightly snug. I am fairly consistently loosing about 2 lb a week.
