Food Intolerance Reactions

I will come out and admit it. I thought people were a bit over the top when they described their reaction to eating food not paleo. I get that McDonalds could get you and upset stomach. I could even understand people extremely sensitive to gluten having a minor reaction to cross contamination. However, this three days in the bed because you ate one bite of food that you should not have. That is over the top right?

Currently I am thinking that it may not be. On New Years Eve we headed over to my sister's house for an party. We packed loads of snacks for the night. Then we left them all at home. No worries, my family were very considerate in providing food that was paleo friendly for my children to snack on.

On special occasions I see little harm in splurging on potatoes or corn. Popcorn, Lay's Potato Chips, and Fritos are all gluten free and decent treat for a special occasion. We threw in some raisins and other fruit and my kids were good to go. I of course took it a step further and splurged by having one of my nephews Russell Stover's chocolates.

I still do not understand why I had a reaction to them. I just had one. I read the ingredient list before hand. I knew that they contained sugar, corn syrup, soy, and dairy. Apparently even in small quantities that is not a good thing for me.

I woke up the next day with a killer headache. The day after the headache was better, but would flair up depending on how I moved my head.

I am the first to admit that this is crazy. Yet, next time I will think before I splurge even in small quantities.
