Emergency Preparedness

One of the highlights at my church lately has been on emergency preparedness. When we moved to California I made it a goal to create 72 hour kits for our family. S stoked the food and J stoled the flashlights so he could stay up and read. Obviously that did not work.

There are unique concerns about creating packs for kids with special needs. Medication is a huge one. I can envision J walking around a broken down neighborhood so implosive that he walks right into a downed power line - or any other hazard.

Then there is food. During an emergency is when we need to be at our best, it will be much worse if I have to feed L gluten and have her bouncing off walls. Or if S gets so much sugar that turns aggressive.

My biggest challenge right now is determining how to lock up the 72 hour kits and still have them excessible during an actual emergency.

Thankfully I still have time to figure that out. This month I am focussing on 3 minute kits. I can not wait to get them put together and shared with you.
