Take me out to the ballgame. . . A Trip to Dodgers Stadium

Now that my children are older it is so much easier to go out of the house. This means that we can actually make it through a store without getting kicked out of it.

This past Friday night we headed off to a baseball game, which was part of a birthday gift for my mom.

L handled being picked up early from summer camp. We made the drive to downtown LA, and I only got lost for less then ten minutes.

Going through the gate they expected my kids to be able to hold their ticket up through the scanner and walk through by themselves. They have walked through a turnstile before, so that part went ok, but the ticket part ended up being performed by the person sitting at the gate.

Our seats were at the top of the stadium right behind home plate. It made for an amazing view of the stadium. It also made for a few panic attacks. The stairs at Dodger's Stadium are very steep. There is next to nothing in the way of a fence at the bottom.

S hates stairs. She freaks out with ones that do not feel like walking straight down. J jumps down everything, and falls often. I had visions of her tripping. J was not too anxious about walking down either. I had to pair my kids up to get them to their seats. Once they were there they were fine.

Their aunt bought them all a souvenir. S got a mini pink dodgers bat. It took less then ten minutes before she dropped it in the seats in front of us. Thankfully no one had arrived yet. Much to her frustration I held onto the bat the rest of the evening.

L was attentive for most of the game. She made it four innings before pulling out her Kindle Fire. Even then she did not play for long. She went until the fifth inning before she could not fight her meds anymore and started sleeping.

S did not last quite as long. Baseball games are loud. She had two meltdowns before the third inning, at that point she moved to sit with her Aunt and Grandma in the less crowded disability seating.

J did great. He hung out with his cousins, playing the teenager that he is.

The great thing about Dodgers stadium is that they had no problem with out sack full of food. I packed dinner for everyone, along with some chips to snack on. It was an entire reusable bags worth and it did not even receive a second glance. Which is great because the food at Dodger's Stadium is beyond expensive, and what I did see did not look very friendly to eat.

Overall, we made it to the beginning of the eight inning before we called it a night. At that point the Cubs, who we were rooting for, was already dominating over the Dodgers 8 to 2.

It was after eleven before we arrived home. L was sound asleep, S was really close. J did not stop talking the entire time - which shows he was tired and not under a lot of control. I had hope that they would sleep in a bit the next day. No such luck. Before eight even came around I was dealing with a violent J meltdown, while trying to contain two very tired girls. Thankfully Saturday got better from there.
