Five Amazon Paleo Friendly Items

For a time I tried really hard to make everything. I spent all weekend in the kitchen. I was working a full time job, doing a full time homemaker job, and raising three special needs kids.

I recently asked for advice on the best bread to purchase for S. I really want to get away from the gluten free bread, but I was killing myself trying to do everything. The response I got back was that if I had time to post the question then I had time to make the bread. I never replied back, obviously the people did not understand why I was asking in the first place.

What I have done is given myself license to not make everything from hand. It does not help my kids any if I cave from mental exhaustion, and the reality was that we were then just going and buying junk food anyway. So, my hope has been to plan better and get more paleo friendly junk food. This will also help with the expense of impulse buying.

Here is my top ten Amazon Shopping List for paleo(ish) items

1. Honey Sticks

I have a sweet tooth - so do my children. It is much better to reach for one honey stick then an entire bag of chocolate chips (nope, I would never do that).

2. Shredded Coconut

While I had plans to never buy coconut milk again - that just is not going to happen. It is great to have shredded coconut on hand. And with this much I do not have to worry about running out very often. We put it in jars, vacuumed sealed it, and put it in the pantry.

3. Pizza Mix

The kids love pizza. Making the crust from hand has been a frustrating epic fail. While not idea this is much better then domino's gluten free pizza.

4. Muffin Mixes

I am amazed at the joy I can get from cooking. It is especially great if I can put on my earphones and listen to a podcast, book, or music while I create food for my family to eat. However, the reality is if I am home they are home. The time for baking just is not there - and while the kids are eating less baked goods - they are not ready for them to be over yet. To be honest, neither am I.

5. Coconut Milk

Coconut milk is awesome. It is useful for so many things, and it is great to just freeze and feed the kids. While it is 'easy' to make homemade coconut milk, it is another thing that just adds up. Also the homemade stuff goes bad so much faster. I was very happy to find a BPA, guar gum free brand. Not that we are a guar gum free household - but one step closer is always good.
